This saber is a smaller version of the dreaded P 1796 Light Cavalry Saber about which Napoleon actually complained claiming the "Hatchet Point" was "inhumane". This smaller Junior Officer Sabers was usually carried by young Ensigns who were in their mid teens but were "the sons of the Gentry" and were catered to accordingly. (Well, it makes a darn good story). Found in the
