Original U.S. Legion of the United States / Federal Era NCO’s Sword with Gold-Inlaid Blade & Fluted Horn Grip - Circa 1790 Mortars ((ᛋᛋ))Original Item. Only One Available. This is a tremendous Non Commissioned Officers sword dating to the Federal Period, around 1790. This lovely example has a stirrup style hilt with a fluted dark horn grip. This model of sword is featured on Page 9 of The American Sword by Harold L. Peterson. There is a plain ferrule at the base of the grips, and the base of the pommel is banded to resemble a ferrule at the top. The pommel itself is six sided and
