This is a very nice original, Austrian made, under contract, Karabiner Model 1871 Prussian Carbine intended for use of cavalry and lancers. Made by the Austrian Weapons Factory Limited, which is abbreviated in German on the gun to read; OESTERR. WAFFFB. GES. The weapon is dated 1876 and covered in German acceptance and proof stampings. Single shot 10. 4mm, bolt action this is what replaced the Dreyse needle fire
