This is a lovely example of a genuine French 18th or early 19th century 8. 5 inch diameter hollow mortar bomb. The mortar is iron and has no markings we could find. The ball measures approximately 8. 5 inches in diameter with a 27 inch circumference and weight approximately 45 LBS. Overall condition is good with areas of heavy pitting and previous rust which has been eradicated. A very rare hard to find piece that
