That painting was the first of a series entitled Voyage of Life. Cole is considered the founder of the Hudson River School, and what makes his work really unique is the fact that he combined nature and spiritual elements. In this painting, there is a guardian angel guarding the child as he travels by boat through an earthly paradise, reminiscent of innocence. The art batts
