This is a unique example of a Model 1905 bayonet designed for use with the Springfield 1903 rifle. The bayonet is dated in 1918 by Springfield Arsenal serial numbered 971016 (correct for production in 1918). However, it was personalized into a really lethal fighting knife. The bayonet has been filled. The blade has been sharpened and contoured and measures just over 10". The blood gutter groove is engraved: TOM REESE 5477
