Original British 18th Century Naval Pewter Plate Named to H.M.S. Venerable - dated 1796 Japanese Flare Guns dating from the Reign ofOriginal Item: Only One Availble. Measuring 9 1 2" across, this must have been used as a regular dinner plate and it still bears the Maker's markings on the rear rim. They unfortunately cannot be read due to years of cleaning and use. The top of the plate is marked: H M S VENERABLE 1796 In addition to the Ship's name and date to the front there is also the Crest of a Coat of Arms depicting a "Running Horse on a padded bar", which no doubt was the
